Nine Dead, Including Children, in Devastating Mass Shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania. A horrific mass shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, has left nine people dead, including multiple children, in a tragedy described by police as one of the most heartbreaking scenes they have encountered. Erie police responded to the 700 block of Perry Street around 4:50 p.m. Friday after receiving reports that two women had been shot outside a home. Witnesses told officers the gunman then entered a nearby residence, prompting a major police response involving the Erie SWAT team and dozens of officers. After securing a warrant, officers entered the home and discovered multiple victims, according to reports from local media. Police Chief Rick Lorah described the scene as devastating, saying the loss of life inside and outside the residence was immense. The suspected gunman was also found dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. As of Saturday morning, investigators had not released the identities of the victims or the suspect. A possible motive has also not been announced, and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation. Chief Lorah expressed sympathy for the victims’ families and everyone affected by the devastating violence. The tragedy has shaken the Erie community as authorities continue working to establish exactly what happened inside and outside the residence. Officials have urged the public to await verified information as the investigation continues.
